5-Day Mardi Himal Trek from Pokhara

The 5-Day Mardi Himal Trek from Pokhara is a short, scenic, and less-crowded Himalayan adventure that takes you close to the base of the sacred Machhapuchhre (6,993 m / 22,943 ft). This trek offers dramatic ridge walks, rhododendron forests, alpine landscapes, and breathtaking sunrise views over the Annapurna range — all within five well-planned days. Ideal for trekkers with limited time, this route starts and ends in Pokhara and reaches Mardi Himal Viewpoint (4,500 m / 14,764 ft) as its highest elevation. Trek Overview Duration: 5 Days Start/End: Pokhara Max Elevation: 4,500 m / 14,764 ft Difficulty: Moderate Accommodation: Tea house lodges Best Season: March–May & September–November Trek Style: Ridge walking with panoramic mountain views Detailed 5-Day Itinerary Day 1: Drive to Kande (1,770 m / 5,807 ft) – Trek to Forest Camp (2,550 m / 8,366 ft) Trek Duration: 5–6 hours After breakfast in Pokhara, drive approximately 1 hour to Kande. The trail ascends through lush rhododendron and oak forests, passing Australian Camp and Pothana. Gradual uphill walking leads to Forest Camp, surrounded by peaceful woodland and fresh mountain air. Highlights: • Rhododendron forest trails • First glimpses of Annapurna range • Quiet and less crowded path Day 2: Forest Camp to High Camp (3,580 m / 11,745 ft) Trek Duration: 6–7 hours The trail climbs steadily above the tree line to Low Camp (2,970 m / 9,744 ft) and then continues along a scenic ridge toward High Camp. The vegetation gradually changes from forest to alpine terrain. Mountain views become dramatic, especially of: Annapurna South (7,219 m / 23,684 ft) Hiunchuli (6,441 m / 21,132 ft) Highlights: • Ridge walking above the clouds • Stunning sunset views • Expanding Himalayan panorama Day 3: High Camp to Mardi Himal Viewpoint (4,500 m / 14,764 ft) – Return to Low Camp (2,970 m / 9,744 ft) Trek Duration: 7–8 hours Early morning hike to Mardi Himal Viewpoint, the highest point of the trek. The trail follows a narrow alpine ridge with breathtaking close-up views of Machhapuchhre. From the viewpoint, enjoy panoramic views of: Machhapuchhre Annapurna I (8,091 m / 26,545 ft) Mardi Himal (5,587 m / 18,330 ft) After sunrise and photography, descend to Low Camp for overnight. Highlights: • Spectacular Himalayan sunrise • Close-up Fishtail views • Alpine landscape Day 4: Low Camp to Siding Village (1,750 m / 5,741 ft) Trek Duration: 5–6 hours Descend through dense forest toward Siding, a traditional Gurung village. This route offers a more authentic rural experience compared to the main ridge trail. Highlights: • Traditional village lifestyle • Terraced farmland • Peaceful forest descent Day 5: Drive from Siding to Pokhara Drive Duration: 2–3 hours After breakfast, drive back to Pokhara via Lumre.
